I've been collecting vintage matchbox label images for a while now, and each time I use them, I'm blown away by their artistry, those rich saturated tones, and the range of images from beautiful to abstract to wonderfully weird. These labels, originating in India, Japan, Sweden, Czech, Poland, and Hungary, mostly date back to the 1940s-50s. Pairing these with mid century produced Bakelite dominoes, creates something truly special.

The process involves adhering these incredible matchbox images onto the Bakelite game pieces. Each one is then painted in an assortment of complementing colors with detailed edges, and sealed to give them a lovely lacquered effect. The result? A cool, unique, and one-of-a-kind statement piece.
